In 1980, following a brief tenure in several Salt Lake and Park City, Utah architecture offices, Rob McQuay found that his skill at hand drawing, and eye for design were developing quickly. Quickly enough that, as exciting and rewarding as internship had been, he soon wanted to forge his own course and open an independent office. Rob took the required exams and, before receiving the results, went out on a limb and formed his first professional firm.

Over the course of the next forty two years, through various partnerships and configurations, varied projects were created in the residential, automobile, hotel, restaurant, hospitality and retail fields. Rob later relocated from Park City to the southern desert of Utah in 2004  where Todd Benson joined him. Work opportunities changed and he soon realized his true passion. Building a team of talented professionals in southern Utah, his work migrated to the design of high end residential projects exclusively.

Eventually outside passions called and Rob retired in mid 2022. Fortunately Rob's right hand, Todd Benson, and the entire outstanding workforce, have continued under the same banner, McQuay Architects, now under Todd's able leadership.
